Samsung provides Windows drivers with these devices, which may or may not be necessary on Windows systems (recent versions of Windows Media Player reportedly support these devices without a specific driver). Using MTP-based players on non-Windows PCs will require installation of additional software. Linux support for at least some of these devices is available through libmtp and the "generic MTP device" plugin in Amarok. Read the specifications on the box carefully; if it says it depends on Windows Media Player, then it's probably an MTP device which may need Windows drivers or other MTP support software.
